LEVEL CROSSING REMOVALS

Project value Total:
$1.0M

Contract Awards for $1.0m in Victoria and Rotherham, England Level Crossing Removal – Victoria Traffic Technologies Ltd (ASX: TTI) (‘Traffic Technologies’ or the ‘Company’) is pleased to announce that its subsidiary L&M Traffic Services, which was acquired in August 2020, has won a contract to supply and install Intelligent Traffic Systems in connection with the level crossing removal at Edithvale with the possible extension to Bond Beach on Port Phillip Bay in Victoria. The contract with the Acciona Coleman Rail Joint Venture provides for the removal of the level crossing by late October 2021. The level crossing at Edithvale Road, Edithvale is being removed by lowering the rail line into a trench and building a new road at the current level. The removal of this level crossing will include the construction of a new Edithvale Station, as well as a four-lane intersection with dedicated turning lanes over the rail line. The boom gates at the Edithvale Road level crossing are down for an average of 42 minutes during the morning peak, when approximately 30 trains run through the crossings. As the current network plans to increase the number of trains running on the Frankston line, this would mean more boom gate downtime. The Victorian Government’s “Big Build” program of improving road infrastructure in Victoria includes the removal of 75 level crossings across Victoria to reduce traffic congestion and improve road safety.
